Outreach & Community
As a Christian community, we are called to serve others. St. Paul Lutheran Church offers a number of local hands-on service opportunities — as well as benevolence giving and international giving — with prayers for your commitment as you are able.
Giving to Boxes of Love is a concrete way to help children and support foster parents, and St. Paul is the designated donation center in Southeast Portland for the Boxes of Love Project. Children's clothing and other comfort items can be dropped off at St. Paul Church on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., or by calling 503-816-9491. For more information, please visit boxesofloveproject.org.
The ELCA has a long history of being present in communities, working to help and serve where the needs are greatest. Participating in this work that God calls us to in the world compels us to be attentive to complex and changing situations, as well as to the importance of both immediate relief and ongoing, long-term assistance for our sisters and brothers and the communities in which they live. On the second Sunday of each month, St. Paul donates its collection to the ELCA's international programs, such as ELCA World Hunger, ELCA Malaria Campaign, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service and Lutheran Disaster Response.
Camp Lutherwood Oregon is a vibrant center of spirituality, service and hospitality open to people of all ages and faiths. Lutherwood provides experiences that bring people into a deeper awareness and connection with God, self, the community and the earth. Laughter and shared experiences result in a richer understanding of the connectedness of life to one another and to the life giving grace from God. Please visit Camp Lutherwood for more info.
